I started research on the Sadler / Spears / Griffin families of Lone Pine and Centerville, Evangeline Parish, Louisiana approximately 20 years ago. Robert E. Spears fondly known as Deacon by his family and friends had started genealogy research on the Spears family, which got me interested in the remainder of our family line. It has been an exciting trip into the past where I’ve turn up some colorful characters and interesting places. I once thought the Sadler’s were a small family but I was wrong. They are scattered all over the world. I had no idea that this would start a life time commitment to research all of the families that settled in this small area of Louisiana.
I use the computer program Brother’s Keeper to keep everything in order. BROTHER'S KEEPER is a Shareware product protected by Copyright. Should you like to try the program out it can be downloaded from http://www.bkwin.com At the present time I have 11741 names in my database which represents 3990 families.
I listed some of the information that I found here for everyone to enjoy and hopefully add to. At the present time there are (28) twenty eignt families listed. More will be posted in the near future. I have been working on the O’Quinn’s, McDonald's, Whatley's and Vidrine families and started looking into the Ferguson, Ortego's, Harrell's, Kennedy's and Welch families which will be posted as soon as they a verified. There are others that I am looking into. Today, May 10, 2012, I posted the Broussard Family (my wife's line) Fifteen generations starting with Nicolas Brossard of France..
I hope to put the information gathered in this study in book form for all to enjoy. The book will cover the time frame from about 1800 until 2000 or there about. Any assistance in this endeavor would be appreciated.
